Altha M. James, died about 2:00 o’clock Monday morning, December 23, 1929, while the outside world was wrapped in a heavy mantle of snow and the mercury was standing a few degrees above zero. The spirit of Miss Altha James left its earthly abode in the home of her brother, W. B. James and went back to God who gave it. For the last four months she had been in very poor health from cancer of the mouth, which affected her throat, stomach and other organs of the body. Ann Mulkey Ellington, 89, died December 30, 1952 at the home of her son, Willard Ellington, in Gilmer County, Ellijay, GA. She was born Miss Ann Mulkey, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Mulkey, pioneer settlers of this county, near Cartecay. She was a member of Oak Hill Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, B. F. Ellington. She is survived by sons, William and B. H. Ellington; grandchildren and great grandchild. Audley BUFFINGTON, 40, died September 14, 1952 after he was attacked and stung several times about the head by a swarm of bees. Audley and Henry Cantrell had just finished cutting a wild honey tree near the Buffington home when the bees made the attack. Stricken suddenly ill from the effect of the stings, Audley died before reaching home and while medical aid was being summoned. The son of Mrs. Emma Buffington and the late J. K. Bonnie Foster Kell, 72, died Sunday in the Boardtown community of Gilmer County, GA. She is survived by sons, Cecil and Juan A. Kell; grandsons; great grandchild; sisters, Mrs. Burd Smith and Mrs. Carl Langham; brothers, John, Homer, T. L. and Roy V. Foster. Clarence G. COX, 62, died November 24, 1949 in Milledgeville, GA. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Cox Sr, he was born and reared in Gilmer County, Ellijay, GA. He attended North Georgia College and received his degree in medicine from the University of Georgia School of Medicine in Augusta in 1912. He returned to Ellijay where he practiced until World War I, when he enlisted in the Medical Corps as Captain and was stationed in Virginia. Mrs. Duckett was a native of Banks County, GA and the daughter of the late George and Selina Edwards Motes. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and was the widow of Bart Duckett.
