He was born October 5, 1931, in Pickens County, GA, the son of Joseph B. and Mattie Gaddis Payne. He is survived by his wife, Mickie Payne; son, Michael Payne; grandchildren; great-grandchild; sisters, Marjorie Wetzel and Ruth Jones. Georgia Pettit Martin Ray, 79, died October 6, 1949. She was born October 12, 1870 and was the youngest child of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Pettit. Mr. Alec Pettit of Sapulpa, OK, is the only surviving member of her father’s family. She was a faithful member of Cartecay Church. Jack Ellington, 29, died March 27, 1941 at Camp Stewart near Savannah in Chatham County, GA. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Horace M. Ellington, Jack was born and reared in Gilmer County, Ellijay, GA. On February 22, 1941, he enlisted in the anti-aircraft division of the coast artillery and was sent to Camp Stewart near Savannah. Maude Davis Pinson Obituary

Maude Davis Pinson, died December 29, 1929 after only a few hours illness causing a great shock and a feeling of sincere regret among a wide circle of friends through the county. Mrs. Pinson who apparently was enjoying her usual health was taken suddenly ill Sunday morning with what was first thought to be a stroke of paralysis. Doctors were immediately summoned and all that medical aid and loving hands could do was done to relieve her suffering.
