Audley Buffington Obituary

Audley BUFFINGTON, 40, died September 14, 1952 after he was attacked and stung several times about the head by a swarm of bees. Audley and Henry Cantrell had just finished cutting a wild honey tree near the Buffington home when the bees made the attack. Stricken suddenly ill from the effect of the stings, Audley died before reaching home and while medical aid was being summoned. The son of Mrs. Emma Buffington and the late J. K. Buffington, he was born and reared in Gilmer County, East Ellijay, GA, where his entire life was spent. At the time of his death he was employed as a clerk at the E. H. McArthur store in East Ellijay. He was survived by his wife and two children; his mother, Mrs. Emma Buffington; sister, Mrs. Helen Medley; brothers, Kenneth, Oran, Wayne, Tom and Victor Buffington. Funeral services were held September 16, 1952 from the East Ellijay Baptist Church with the Rev. W. F. Simmons and Rev. Oscar Land officiating. Interment was in the East Ellijay Cemetery with Logan Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
