Peace. My name is Jerelle Thomas Smith, and I’m researching my grandfather’s birth and lineage history for private family trust recordkeeping and ancestral restoration purposes.
His name was Thomas Alphonso Herring, born June 22, 1905, in Coweta County (Newnan), Georgia. I understand Georgia did not begin full birth registration until 1919, but I’m reaching out to ask:
Do you have any birth records, church registries, family bibles, midwife logs, or delayed birth filings for Coweta County covering 1905?
Was any delayed birth certificate ever filed for Thomas Alphonso Herring in the 1930s–1950s (possibly for Social Security)?
Are there any family name references to “Herring” in Coweta County between 1895–1915?
I’m his biological grandson and currently acting as private heir and executor of the estate. If there are any records you can help me locate — even informal — I’d be grateful to discuss next steps or reproduction costs.
Much appreciation to your team for preserving our local history. Thank you in advance.
Interested in finding information about James R. Lowe, 1889 – 1892 time frame. And any people related.
Looking for information on Christopher C Smith 1822-1883 (born in Coweta County and died in Carroll County). His father was Jesse H Smith born in 1785 in North Carolina and died in 1847 in Coweta County. I have more info on Christopher than I do Jesse, would like to have more on his family. This is my paternal grandmother’s line.
I’m looking for information on the Arnold surname primarily among African Americans in Coweta County, especially Newnan, GA.
Researching the William McCombs family of Newnan. Possible father, brother or uncle Andrew? Also researching the Asa Huggins family, also of Newnan. Asa’s parents were James L and Obedience Huggins. Circa 1830-1900. Trying to find records from when the McCombs picked up their land. Also Huggins as well. thanks
