Family of James Martin and Hester Bogan

James Martin and wife Hester Bogan Martin came from Union Dist S C to Jasper County Georgia ca 1821; they remained there until 1831 when they moved to the lower part of the 5th District of Randolph County. (A James M Martin living Wilder’s Dist. Jasper County drew Lot No. 137 in the 5th Dist Lee County in 1827 and this land fell into Randolph County when that county was formed from Lee Co). Easter (Hester) Bogan Martin, wife of James Martin, was the daughter of Isaac Bogan, a Revolutionary War Soldier of Union, S. C. James and Hester Martin were parents of the following children:

  2. Isaac b Feb. 1812 Union Dist S C died Texas. Mar 6/6/1834 Mary Polly
  3. Truitt b. 1814 Jasper Co Ga. d. Texas
  4. Robert b 12-29-1814 Union Dist S C mar. 2/19/1839 India Dillard – later they moved to Louisiana where they died.
  5. Easter b. S C 3-4-1819 mar. 11-21-1836 Samuel F Houston b. 4-16-1811 d 4-1-1881 in Louisiana. Easter d. there 11-10-1905.
  6. John b 1-3-1821 S. C. mar Martha Truitt b 5-27-1821. lived and died Randolph County Ga – John d 4/22/1917 and Martha d 7-15-1908.
  7. Margaret Jane b Jasper Co Ga 1-26-1823 mar. 6-5-1838 Richomond Nally Saxon b 1-15-1817 d 12-5-1891. They lived Randolph County Ga.
  8. Samuel Crawford b. 1-29-1825 Georgia mar Mary Anne Cheshier. They lived in Randolph County Ga for several years then moved to Brazos County Texas.
  9. Charles Courtney b 3-9-1827 mar 9-15-1846 Rachel Ann Lasley b 3-4-1829 d 11-21-1895. They lived in Randolph County.
  10. George Washington b 1829 d. 10-24-1915 mar. 2-6-1849 Sarah Bradley b 1-26-1821 – they lived and died Randolph County.
  11. James Caswell b 4-19-1836 d 8-16-1918 mar 1-9-1867 Leonora Adella Keen b 3-7-1841 d 4-6-1878 lived and died near Cuthbert, Randolph Co. Ga.
