If your ancestor lived in Irwin County prior to 1860 and they are not listed above please use the comment form below and I will add them to this list. To save time and space I did not list each head of family by that surname but only the surname and where they came from before coming to Irwin County if known.

My 5th Gr Grandfather was Simon Lee GAY.
Simon Gay served as a private in Bradley’s Company, in the Wilmington district of North Carolina in 1788. He served for 9 months and was awarded 488 acres in Irwin Co, GA in Edwards Military District. His lot and section # 488/12.
His residence in 1820 census is Emmanuel, GA. I also have his death listed in 1820. Also show his son Henry Simon Gay was born abt 1799 Bullock Co, GA.
I feel he should be listed under the Irwin Co, GA pioneers. Thanks
Hi, are you acquiring about Nathan Land of Washington County, AL? Nathan’s parents were Edmond and Harriette Land also of Alabama. If so, contact me at zurita30@live.com.
Hello,
I am interested in the history of the “Land” family in Irwin County. If you have any information pertaining to Nathan Land and his wife’s name, including the names of their children. Also, if you have information on Henry Land and his relationship to Nathan would be helpful.
In advance, thank you for your consideration regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
Michael Losee
I am searching for Isham & Rhoda Watson who settled in South Georgia. He passed in 1847 and trying to connect Isham to his son Gilbert who I trace my lineage through.
