   According to Victor Davidson, in History of Wilkinson County Walnut Creek was organized as a Primitive Baptist church, by Nelson Stuckey in 1878 who furnished the material and proceeds for the building.  Joseph Maddox in Wilkinson County Georgia Historical Collections says "the original members  came over from Cool Springs Baptist Church which is now in Allentown Ga. "  Twiggs County.

The first pastor of the church  was Rev. Wiley Rogers who with his wife Hope Rogers, Nelson Stuckey and his wife Sabrina Stuckey  were among the first members. The church was re-established as a Missionary Baptist church by Rev. Clarke in 1910.  Victor Davidson, in History of Wilkinson County.
