The Rev. Charles P. Witherspoon, a miniser
of the Associated Methodist Churchs, met here Tuesday Oct. 21, 1830 according
to the Macon Weekly Telegraph Nov. 20, 1830
According to Victor Davidson's
History
of Wilkinson County, "Old Hopewell, on the Macon and Irwinton Highway
just on the line of Twiggs and Wilkinson, is now only a tradition, having
disappeared before the War Between the States. Among the members there
were the Vinsons."
