Methodist Camp Grounds
Wilkinson County, Ga.

       Angus McDonald of the Ohoopee Circuit came to Wilkinson County as a missionary after 1807 and held services at several camp grounds. One was near Camp Ground Branch from which Poplar Springs Methodist Church sprung. Another was on Big Sandy Creek, at the spring above the road near Thompson's Bridge - Irwinton Methodist church sprung from this and another was near the old county site not far from the Twiggs line - Ball's Church probably sprang from this.
