The church was constituted April 19, 1867 by Rev. Green B. Hughs
and Rev. J. T. Hughs. First members were James M. Folsom, James M. Palmer,
Julia B. Palmer, A J. Champion, Mary Champion, Nancy Pace, Tabitha Golding,
J.W. Jolly, Virginia Raiford, Joe Solomon, Sarah Cox, Tabitha Jolly.

G. B. Carswell, John Crumbley, C. M. Hooks, Loderick M. Jones,

The
Baptist built a new church in 1876 on the north side of the railroad and
stood there until 1924 when the present brick church was built. The old
church which had been converted into a residence was torn down and the
lumber used for other buildings. In 1924 Rev. Hugh Wallace was the pastor.
