Finister-Walker German Colony
Hancock County, Ga.

   In 1907 J. B. Finister of New York was the promoter of a German colony at John D. Walker's Ogeechee Farms  in Hancock County, which consisted of 7,500 acres. Mr. Finister had successfully colonzied The Ralph Peters Long Island reclaimed land and the Herramann tract, one of which had place great numbers of German and Italian families.

Families were "allotted" 40-80 acres, furnished a mule, wagon, farming implements, seed and fertilizer. H. L. Harris was the  superintendent of the Ogeechee plantation.

husband and wife
natives of Alsace-Lorraine, came from near Stratsburg.

B. Schellender all Bavarians
have been in America 4 years.

40 acres for 1 horse farm
