Remarks (page 1) The County of Hancock is separated by a granite ridge. The upper half red lands and clay soils. The other half sandy soil and piney woods. Remittant and Intermittant fevers prevail in summer and autumn on the large water courses. Continued fever and dysentery prevals more or less in winter and spring.
