Whereas the State of Georgia granted
to me, John Brickel, practitioner of physic of the City of Savannah
and to my heirs forever, a tract of land #106, containing 202.5 acres,
2nd District, Wilkinson County on the 13 Nov. 1805 as may be seen registered
in Book 2, Wilkinson Folio #48. Now I, John Brickel, having a high
value for the goods and qualities of Captain John Shaw, Mariner of Savannah,
do hereby give said tract of land to the said Captain John Shaw and to
the lawful heirs of his body forever. And in case of failure in said
heirship, the said tract of land is to become the property of the academy
of Chatham County, to be disposed of for the use of said academy as the
trustees thereof shall think best for the benefit of said Academy.
